| 2006. Our annual Ladies Banquet was wonderful. Every year in
May, men in the church volunteer to serve the ladies a nice meal, as
well as provide a nursery for small children.
This year, following the delicious
meal, we had a treat! Karen Dunkin was our featured speaker
and is currently on staff with Slavic Gospel Association, with 30
years of experience in women's ministries. She is the Director
of Women's Ministries, and God uniquely prepared her for that
work with women in Russia.
In 1999,
Karen's pastor husband went to be with Christ after a long illness.
Karen herself endured a battle with cancer. God used her suffering
and loss to turn her heart to Russia, where 70% of church members
are women and 45% of those women are widows. Karen's heart is
burdened for women - that they would be encouraged in their walks
with Christ, trained for ministry, and fully prepared to carry out
their God-given roles in their home, church, and
community.
