Thoughts from our Pastor:

08/01/2009

I would commend the following resources to help you "gird your loins with the truth."

1.  Read the Bible in one year.  Bible Gateway has four different online plans with one that takes you through the entire Bible in one year: http://www.biblegateway.com/resources/readingplans/more.php.

If you would like to have a print out to aid you, you can download a pdf file that allows you to check off what chapters you have read.  To use the checklist, you will need to read 3-4 chapters a day to finish in one year.

2.  The Discipline of Grace by Jerry Bridges.

3.  Respectable Sins: Confronting the Sins We Tolerate by Jerry Bridges

4.  The Complete Husband:  A Practical Guide to Biblical Husbanding by Lou Priolo.

5.  Feminine Appeal by Carolyn Mahaney.

6.  When You've Been Wronged: Moving from Bitterness to Forgiveness  by Erwin W. Lutzer.

Please be discerning as you read. If you have any questions about the books, please contact me at office (708)474-0455.

books are helpful.  Remember to read discerningly and comparing it with the
Scriptures.

2.    Life in the Body of Christ:  Privileges and Responsibilities in the Local Church by Curtis C. Thomas.

3.    The Church in God's Program by Robert L. Saucy.

4.    Biblical Eldership:  An Urgent Call to Restore Biblical Church Leadership by Alexander Strauch.

5.    Minister of Mercy:  The New Testament Deacon by Alexanders Strauch.
